Iwafune Jizodo
This is where it is said Minamoto no Yoritomo's daughter Ohime's nenjibutsu (a small statue of Buddha always kept close at hand) is kept. It is one of the three major Iwafune Jizos in Japan. She died at the age of 20 in 1197. Reportedly many people such as Hojo, Miura, and Kajiwara who were bereaved by the untimely death took part in her funerary procession in this valley. Recently rebuilt, a white-faced Jizo image has been installed in the structure.
