Kenkohji Zen Temple

"This Soto Zen Buddhist temple is located a three-minute walk from the Nishi-terao-kenkoji-mae bus stop a 15-minute ride from Tsurumi Station on the Yokohama Municipal Bus. Built in 1560 by Suwamikawanokami Umanosuke, fifth lord of Terao Castle and servant to the Odawara Hojo clan, the temple was the family temple of the Suwa clan. The temple's emblem is still the ""Suwa mulberry,"" the informal crest of the Suwa clan. The temple has a bamboo forest-encircled belfry, and on New Year's Eve the temple holds a stunning traditional event in which the bell is rung 108 times as thousands of lights light up the grounds."

徳雄山瑞雲院と号する曹洞宗の寺院。天正12年1584年に創建と伝えられています、由緒正しく伝統ある寺院ですが、知名度は全国区と言えないところが残念。

大晦日〜年明けに行きました。2時間限定で境内にはキャンドルが無数に散らばっておりとても幻想的で綺麗でした！私たちはしませんでしたが、並べば除夜の鐘を突くこともできます！来年はぜひ突いてみようと思います！
