Hombo Shuzo Yakushima Densho-gura
"This shochu distillery with deep roots on Yakushima Island, the ""Alps of the Sea,"" has created handcrafted honkaku shochu in traditional earthenware pots since being founded in 1960. It is the only distillery that makes sweet potato shochu with sweet potatoes grown on Yakushima Island. Visitors can even watch the mashing process if they visit at the right time. The distillery uses 56 irreplaceable earthenware pots passed down since 1887 and the island's extremely soft water, which is listed amongst the Top 100 Famous Waters of Japan, to create shochu with a smooth taste and fine flavor."

- 2019年10月の平日に訪問焼酎の仕込みを見学できます。ただ、事前予約が必要です。冊子などには予約不要となっていましたが、観光案内所にある紙に事前予約が必要と書いてあり、私も前日に急遽予約しました。ただ、私が見学してる際、別のお客さんが来て、急遽予約したみたいな事を話していたので、当日でも対応してくれるのかもしれません。見学は、1名でも嫌な顔をせずに受け入れてくれます。訪問時間が多少アバウト...
