Kakke Jizoson

Other Historic Site/Building
"A statue of the Bodhisattva Jizo enshrined in 1393. It has been famous since ancient times for its miraculous ability to heal beriberi, and it receives a steady stream of visitors throughout the year. People began to call it the ""Yamanaka Jizoson"" after Noda Saburo Oe Iefusa took up Zen training as a priest at Haseyama Kannon Zenji Temple and built the sanctuary at the site of his grandfather's residence in the mountains and enshrined the statue with a Buddhist ritual. Later on, it came to be called Kakke Jizoson. The Yamanaka Jizo Festival is held every year on July 24."
