Daichaju
One of the symbols of Ureshino City, this enormous tea tree is 4.6 meters tall and has a crown of about 80 square meters. Yoshimura Shinbei is said to be the originator of Ureshino tea; he encouraged the cultivation of tea throughout the Sarayadani Valley of Mt. Fudo in the 1600s. Said to be 350 years old, this is the only tea tree left from that period. There are still tea fields there that stretch as far as the eye can see.
