Nakajima Shrine (at Imari Shrine)

Shrine
A Shinto shrine dedicated to the god of sweets, Tajimamori-no-mikoto. The shrine was built in the late 7th century during the era of Empress Suiko. The name originated with the grave of Tajimamori, which floated like an island in a pond at Emperor Suinin's imperial tomb. It was designated as a National Treasure in 1912, and is now a national Important Cultural Property.
