Takachihocho Community Center: Takachiho History & Folklore Museum
This community center complex opened in 1986. The center's museum houses and displays some 10 thousand cultural properties, including ancient texts, folk items, and other artefacts from ruins and historic sites connected to Takachiho and its legends and myths. Takachiho is known as a land of legend, and numerous cultural properties both physical and intangible, such as the National Important Intangible Folk-Cultural Property-designated Yokagura Shinto dancing, can still be found there to this day. The museum also displays artefacts from Jomon period site excavations and items dating back to the war, and visitors can experience the ages which have passed through Takachiho.
