A 15-minute walk from KR Kurashiki Station. This museum is organized into four different themes; Earth Sciences, Flora, Insects, and Fauna, and has exhibits introducing you to the flora and fauna of Okayama Prefecture as well as the insects and plants of the world. In the entrance hall you'll be greeted by parent and child models of ancient Elephas naumanni elephants which move and make sounds. With the large number of specimens and elaborate replicas you'll be able to explore the history of all sorts of living things almost as if you were out in the wilds yourself. There's even tanuki and inoshishi boar fur, dinosaur foot bones, and fossils of Elephas naumanni elephants that you can touch.

昆虫や動物の博物館です。

入場料は150円、昆虫や動物のはく製などが展示しています。その為か見学していた小さな男の子のテンションは上がりっぱなし、「カミキリ虫」を見てかっこいーなんて言うのには少し微笑ましい感じでした。今の成人した男女とも虫は嫌いという人は大勢いると聞きますので、こればかしは好みでどうぞといったところです。

美観地区の中央通りを挟んで反対側にある。市立の美術館、図書館と三館が並立しているエリアだ。入口にナウマンゾウの復元模型があるが、その他の展示も併せて倉敷からは多くの化石が出土していることを初めて知った。また、同行した友人曰く、ここの昆虫コレクションは充実しているという。
世界の蝶のコレクションがちょっとすごい

芸文館や市立美術館もある倉敷の文化ゾーンの一角。入口にはナウマンゾウの親子の像が展示されたり、全体としては子供向けの施設だと思いますが、世界の蝶のコレクションがちょっとすごい。世界地図にピン止めされた標本はとても美しいです
