Mogami Yoshiaki Historical Museum

This museum is on Koen-dori Street in Otemachi, Yamagata City. Located on the ruins of Komyo-ji temple, which was the Bodaiji temple holding the remains of first Mogami Clan lord Shiba Kaneyori, and holds materials connected to the first Yamagata domain lord, Mogami Yoshiaki, and other members of the clan. They display martial pieces like swords and armor, as well as scrolls, paintings, and other valuable items.

山形城跡の東側にあります。山形繁栄の基礎を築いた最上義光を中心に最上家関係の資料を収集、展示がされています。前には庭園があり、銅像もあります。文翔館といい、メジャーな文化歴史関係の施設が無料なのは山形はいいですね。

お花見がてら霞城公園を訪れた際に立ち寄った。出羽国が生んだ最大の英傑で、ほぼ一代で最上家を東北有数の大大名へと押し上げた武将といわれるが、個人的にはまったく知識がなく、歴史館の資料を見てその人物の凄さ知った。現在の山形発展の礎を築いた義光や最上家ゆかりの資料や山形の文化財が展示紹介されている。こじんまりとした展示で、見どころはあまり多くない。
弾痕兜と鉄指揮棒

館内に入ると正面に舞を踊る最上義光と死を覚悟した可哀想な駒姫の木人形が。館内に右側には最上義光関連の資料が展示されており、有名な長谷堂合戦時に直江軍の鉄砲で被弾した兜、鉄製の指揮棒が展示されている。館内左側には山形城の発掘調査時に出土された茶碗等が展示されている。
