Toyotamahime Shrine

Shrine
This shrine is known as the one spot where you can enjoy a beautiful view on Ogi Island. Enshrined here is the grandmother of Emperor Jimmu, Toyotama Hime no Mikoto. Endearingly called, Tamahimesan by the locals, she is honored as the goddess of prosperous descendants, safe childbirth, and fortunate encounters towards marriage. For this reason, it is said that one will have a safe childbirth if one drinks sake out of the shrine vessels and easy childbirth vessels preserved in this shrine. Located about 10 minutes up an incline from the ferry port, once arriving at the crest immediately before the main hall, visitors can enjoy a wonderful view of the Ogi Island town below.
