This trademark plate-glassed building is an history library just a three-minute walk from the Showacho Station on the JR Kotoku Line. It opened in 1992 as a place where one can learn about the history of Takamatsu and familiarize oneself with their hometown. The permanent exhibit begins from the prehistoric period, to ancient times, moving to the modern and current eras by introducing unique historic topics. The 3D model of the pleasure boat used by Takamatsu Domain, Hiryumaru, replicated by studying kirie paper drawings, is practically the emblem of the museum. There are also many works of art and documents pertaining to the historic battle site, Yashima, where Genpei joined the famous Genpei War in the late Heian Period.

サンクリスタルの4階にある高松市の歴史資料館です。JR昭和町駅からは歩いてすぐの場所にあります。今回は、レンタルサイクルを使って、高松駅から自転車で来ました。図書館も併設されており複合的な施設の中にあります。資料館の中には、高松藩御座船、飛龍丸とても見ごたえがありました。また学芸員の解説ツアーもありました。

高松駅からそこそこ離れたところに位置している歴史に焦点を当てた博物館で館内は落ち着いて見ることが出来ました。
宇高連絡船就航当時の高松築港ジオラマなど面白い展示が多い資料館でした

高松市歴史資料館は、高松市内中心部から外れたサンクリスタル高松という名前の公共施設ビルの中にある歴史博物館です。郊外と言うほどでも無いらしく狭い機械式駐車場は有料でした。宇高連絡船が就航していた当時の高松築港ジオラマなど面白い展示が多いので、高松市中心部や観光地に移転すれば、観光客も含めた入場者増が期待出来ると思いました。
