Sandan Waterfall

Waterfall
This waterfall is considered the most beautiful place in Special Place of Scenic Beauty-designated Sandankyo Gorge, a gorge resembling a traditional landscape painting. The powerful, 30-meter-high waterfall is picturesque and is frequently depicted in postcards and other materials from Akiota Town in Hiroshima Prefecture. Consisting of three tiers, its beauty impresses on viewers the majesty of nature. Also famous as one of the best places to enjoy fall foliage in the country, in autumn visitors can take in scenery interweaving vivid crimson and gold leaves with the spectacular waterfall, and the walking path along the river bustles with tourists. The falls are around a two and a half hour walk from the main entrance to Sandankyo Gorge or 30 minutes from the Mizunashi Parking Lot.
