Shio-Okonomi Izakaya Takaramachi Ajian

Other Light Meals
This Japanese izakaya pub is located an eight-minute walk from Hijiyama-bashi streetcar stop on the Hiroshima Electric Railway. The pub is famous for its Shio Okkon, an original take on the shio (salt-flavored) Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki savory pancake. Made without the standard okonomiyaki sauce and consisting of a rice base topped with a mound of vegetables, noodles, seafood, green onions, and dried bonito flakes, it has a delicious, mild flavor. Other highlights from the pub’s expansive menu include bite-sized hamburg steaks, tonpeiyaki pork and eggs, fatty fish underbelly sauteed with salt, and cheese fondue.
