Jumonjiyama Park
This 3,000 square meter scenic lookout park is located on top of a mountain on the south side of Toyoshima Island, which is a part of Kure City. The mountain has been selected for inclusion in a list of Japan’s 100 best island mountains. From the park’s circular, eight-meter-high viewing platform, visitors can enjoy a sweeping view of the beautiful, island-dotted Seto Inland Sea. On clear days, the 360 degree panoramic view extends all the way to the mountains of the Shikoku region. Due to torrential rains, access to the observatory was closed in 2018, but this has now been restored. As some of the forest roads in the area are closed or neglected, be sure to take sufficient care when making your way to the top of the mountain.
