Ume Ichiban (Minabe Store)
Situated along National Route 42 in a residential neighborhood on the south side of Minabe Town near Kashima Island, this shop sells umeboshi pickled plums and other products made with Japanese plums. In addition to umeboshi such as the shop's signature Ogonzuke umeboshi pickled with honey, a style of umeboshi the Ume Ichiban company invented; the establishment also sells other foods made with Japanese plums, umeshu plum liqueur, and original Japanese knickknacks. The shop's selection includes products sold no place else. In the shop's adjoining cafe area, you can have coffee, matcha green tea, and desserts, as well as confections made by the Ume Ichiban company.
