Usukawa Manju Gihei Kishimoto Main Store
Japanese Confectionery
This Japanese confectionery store is located a little to the southwest along National Route 42, after exiting JR Kushimoto Station. The long-established store was founded in 1893, and in a time when manju buns were considered sweets, it pursued the creation of a light, unsweetened bun, which is now a specialty product, Usukawa Manju. Its main characteristic is the special bean paste which is made from scratch to be delicious while also not being too sweet. In addition to Usukawa Manju, the store also has Imoimo and Hamasodachi, as well as Rosetsu Monaka, which have been recognized by Premier Wakayama.

- Maybe Kushimotos most famous souvenir?
- Gihei is a wagashi store:they sell only Japanese candy. No idea why theres a lunch set menu picture up there.Theyre famous for something called usukawa manju (hence the name), which is kind...
