A long-standing Japanese confectioner that's been open since the Meiji period. Their specialty is Habutaemochi rice dumplings made with local Fukui prefecture rice. Their treats have been highly regarded at the National Confectionery Exposition and have won multiple prizes. Along with their standard mochi another popular creation is their Arranged Habutaemochi with fills the middle with red bean paste, matcha green tea flavored paste, strawberry, and more. They also offer it sandwiched together with red bean paste between dorayaki pancakes.

Northeast of Kyoto, the ancient Tojinbo Cliffs separate Fukui prefecture from the Sea of Japan in a stretch of land well worth exploring. Water sports and seaside delicacies are available in abundance as the spectacular rugged coastline flattens down into beaches to the west of the prefecture, while inland, Fukui is home to Zen Buddhist temples and historic ruins.
