Hongan Shozu Itoyo no Sato

A learning facility in Itoyo-cho, Ono City. It's located next to the Hongan Shozu spring water pond which is one of the few habitats for the three-spined stickleback fish and as such as been designated as a Natural Monument of Japan. Inside the building you can learn all about the ecology of the stickleback with an area where you can watch them and exhibits teaching you about their living environment.

イトヨとは何か知らなかったのですが、綺麗な水に生息している淡水魚でした。魚にはトゲがあると聞きました。入るときは何か掃除をしている方がいたのですが中には職員の方はいました。

市街地からやや外れます。何やら立派な施設、大きな駐車場があるのですが、訪れている人はなく、職員が水場や周辺の清掃に励んでいました。イトヨの展示館には客がいたのかもしれませんが、、、

大野市の観光で訪れました。「施設入館＆まちなか循環バス利用パスポート」の対象施設ですが有料スペースは入って右手の特別展示室のみ。大野のおいしい湧き水が飲めます。また、イトヨの生態系やお魚に関するクイズもあり、子供連れにお勧め。観光当時は非常に暑かったので、涼んで一息する場所にするのもあり。
