Hotaru no Mori Park (Hotaru no Sato Kitaaizu)

Other Sightseeing Spot
This park stretches in front of JA Aizu Kitaaizu. A pavilion, walkway and pond have been constructed as a symbolic facility for the development of a firefly sanctuary. Every year between June and July, you can watch the fireflies dancing wildly. Many fireflies fly around on hot and humid nights when it is lightly raining or cloudy and there is no wind. The fireflies begin to glow for an hour or two after sunset and reach their peak. At the end of June, a firefly festival is held in the adjacent plaza and the park is crowded with local residents.
