道の駅みずなし本陣ふかえに隣接しているので場所は分かりやすいです。駐車場からは雲仙普賢岳と火砕流が流れた斜面が見渡せます。島原市方面から来ると整備された水無川の橋を渡って来ますが、この川を中心に河口まで広い範囲で土石流の被害があったことを実感できます。移設された建物も一部ありますがほぼ当時のまま保存されており土石流の怖さを実感できる施設として重要な役割を担っていると思います。
