Itsukushima-jinja Shrine Treasure Museum

Reference/Local/Exhibition/Literature Museum
"Itsukushima Shrine houses a group of shrine buildings built by Taira no Kiyomori at the end of the Heian Period, as well as treasures and historical materials that have been dedicated to the shrine for about 850 years. The collection includes approximately 4,500 items, including the Heike Nokyo Sutra, a masterpiece of decorative scripture, more than 130 of which are national treasures and important cultural properties. Some of these items are on display in the Treasure House, and the actual ""Heike Nokyo"" is shown during special exhibitions. The vermilion-lacquered Treasure House, built in 1933, is a rare concrete building coated with lacquer, and is designated as a National Tangible Cultural Property."
