This art museum is located in the Toyosawa area of Nagi Town, Katsuta County. Designed by architect Isozaki Arata with a huge work produced by Arakawa Shusaku + Madeline Gins, Okazaki Kazuo and Miyawaki Aiko, the museum is the combination of a piece of art and a building. There is a gallery space that holds temporary modern art exhibitions and a cafe inside. In addition, the Nagi Town Library is adjacent to the museum.

岡山の山間部の小さな町にこんなセンスのある美術館があるのはちょっと驚き。
美術館自体も小さいが建物もセンスある。
磯崎新氏、荒川修作氏などセンスある方々が関わっているだけあるな。

まず3つの展示室で構成される美術館自体の美しさにびっくりします。そして、かなり難解なような、わかりやすいような常設展示の現代美術に最初は少し戸惑いました。しかし、不思議な魅力が、少しだけわかった気持ちにもなりました。もう少し理解するために、いつかもう一度訪れることになりそうです。
