南極探検隊の隊長の記念館です。タロー、ジローの物語や、NHKのプロジェクトXでも取り上げられていた人で、雪山讃歌の作詞もした人です。興味があれば行ってみても良いかも。

恩師西堀栄三郎先生の故郷にある、記念館「探検の殿堂」を訪ねてみました。東京大田区の旧居が無くなった後、貴重な品々の展示がある記念館です。前の池の端にはタロー・ジローの銅像、館内には先生の生い立ちから、旧制三高から京大山岳部、「雪山讃歌」の作詞、日本山岳会に亘る探検の記録、日本の原子力平和利用の先駆け、日本の品質管理の先導、南極越冬隊の記録などなど、後世に継承されたい事績がわかり、とても勉強になりま...
