"This castle is located in AoiWard, Shizuoka City. It is also known as ""Fuchu Castle"" and ""Shizuoka Castle."" Tokugawa Ieyasu, who had conquered the country of Suruga in 1585, built the castle to move his home there from Hamamatsu Castle. In the Edo period, it was home to Sumpu clan and Sumpu Castle lords (castle keeper), and in the Meiji period, it was home to the Sumpu clan (Shizuoka clan). Currently, it is part of ""Sumpu Castle Park."""
