Omidoji Temple

A Shingon Buddhist temple located in Mihama Town, Chita County, Aichi Prefecture. The temple's principal object of worship is a figure of Amitabha. According to legend, the famous samurai Minamoto no Yoritomo prayed continuously to this statue and eventually his wish was granted; accordingly, the temple is also believed to grant the prayers of worshipers. The grave of Minamoto no Yoshitomo, Yoritomo's father, is also located on the temple's grounds. The temple also owns a wooden statue depicting Amitabha in a seated position which has been designated an Important Cultural Property by the prefecture as well as many other Important Cultural Properties.

源義朝が入浴中に殺されたことが，観光の売りである寺。戦いに関心のある人には，見どころのある寺かもしれない。知多四国や尾張観音の札所になっていて，観光で歩いて訪ねることもできる。そもそも本家本元の四国八十八か所が，江戸時代に金儲け目的で作られたもので，あまりに儲かるので全国に広まった霊場めぐりだ。私は，奈良の古道を歩くのが好きだが，交通費をかけたくない人には，近場の寺めぐりもいいかもしれない...
イベントが無ければ参拝客が殆どいない穴場スポット

知多半島道路を通、南知多ICを降りて約１０分ほどの位置に有るお寺。源義朝が謀殺されたと言われている所で義朝公のお墓や、御首を洗ったとされる「血の池」等、そのゆかりが境内に多数あります。また、境内の中には建長2年（1250）、鎌倉幕府5代将軍藤原頼嗣によって寄進された尾張地方で最古の梵鐘が掲げてある鐘楼堂もあり見どころいっぱいです。

サイクリングで立ち寄りました想像以上に素晴らしい場所でした。(期待値が低かったのかもしれませんが、、)たいへん長い歴史のお寺さん様々な縁故がわかりやすく説明がありました。奉納の沢山のお地蔵さまがフォトジェニック。歴史ある土地らしく、近隣に、沢山のお寺がありました。
