Naikumae Senokuniya

Japanese Confectionery
This Japanese confectionery shop is located a one-minute walk from Uji Bridge that leads to Ise Jingu Shrine's Inner Shrine. One of their specialties is kamiyo mochi, a historical product known as something given for travelers to eat on their pilgrimage, called okage-mairi, to Ise Jingu Shrine in Edo period. It looks like green, bite-sized kusamochi (rice cake with Japanese mugwort mixed in the dough). Using mochi rice milled from select red beans and brown rice, they use no preservatives and only natural mugwort for their color and aroma. It was awarded the Ministers Award at the 19th National Confectionary Exposition for its great taste, and has received the honor of being presented to the Crown Prince in 1975.
