Roadside Station Tomizawa (道の駅とみざわ)

Michi no Eki Road Station

This roadside station in Nanbu Town, Minamikoma County, Yamanashi Prefecture has a giant statue of a bamboo shoot as a landmark. Located at the border of Southwest Yamanashi and Shizuoka Prefecture, the facility is a key hub for stimulating the region's economy and life. The farmer's market offers the town's specialties, locally-harvested seasonal vegetables, and more. The food court's takenoko gohan (rice cooked along with bamboo shoots) and seasonal soba noodles are quite popular with visitors.

Yamanashi prefecture is the proud home of one of Japan's most celebrated icons: Mount Fuji. Although the mountain straddles both Yamanashi and Shizuoka, the most breathtaking views of Fuji-san can be seen from the Fuji Five Lakes north of the mountain in Yamanashi prefecture. The plethora of outdoor activities in and around the lakes all have the benefit of the country's highest mountain as their backdrop, and we can assure you that it is an unforgettable sight.
