Shinpu Castle Ruins
These castle ruins in now Nakada-machi, Nirasaki City, were the site of the Takeda clan's last castle. This culmination of the Koshu style of castle architecture that represents the Takeda clan was tragically burned down by its lord Takeda Katsuyori only 68 days after it was built during an attack by Oda Nobunaga's forces. Today, only the castle's moat, embankment, and a few other elements remain. Shinpu Fujitake Shrine located near the site of the inner citadel is known for its beautiful cherry blossoms every spring.
