Ryokan Ontake (旅館御岳)
This hot spring inn in Gero City, Gifu Prefecture is located at Nigorigo Onsen, which sits at an altitude of 1,800 meters. Their baths, fed exclusively with hot spring water directly from the source, are said to help with a wide range of ailments including nerve pain and skin diseases. The inn’s large public baths offer views of the seasonal scenery from their large windows, while its open air baths (including one located in a ravine) offer great natural surroundings. Guests can also relax and unwind at the foot baths located at the terrace on the first floor of the inn. The inn offers banquet-style cuisine focused on Hida beef, as well as a large selection of local sake. It also has an observatory equipped with a large telescope where guests can enjoy stargazing.
