Takayama City’s old town Sanmachi Suji will leave you feeling you’ve traveled back in time, and Notoya is a shop dedicated to the sense of smell on one of its lanes. They have an array of items like different kinds of incense and scent bags, as well as cute and decorative incense burners and holders. A stylish variety shop, their incense stands featuring the Hida-Takayama favorite Sarubobo often find their way onto social media. Lots of tourists visit this shop to purchase souvenirs.

店内はカラフルで綺麗なお店です。一番気に入ったのは友禅の柄のポチ袋に入った匂い袋です。品名が英語・日本語・中国語と併記しており、外国人観光客に優しいお店です。でも外観は、こげ茶のモノトーンの高山らしい外観です。

さんまち通りにあるお香屋さん。落ち着いた雰囲気の店内にはオリジナルのお香やカラフルなお線香、本格的な香炉まで揃っています。お店のご主人が中国系の旅行客に中国語で話しかけていました。香りに誘われて外国人観光客も多く来店していました。友人にプレゼントを購入。プレゼント包装は用意がないとのことでしたが、お店の包装紙で包装してくれ充分でした。カードは使えませんでした。
