Former Gujo-Hachiman City Hall Memorial Building

This building was Gujo-Hachiman's city hall until 1994 but was re-purposed as the current memorial hall when they changed location. The wooden, Western style structure was built in 1936, and it has been designated as a Registered Cultural Property. It has a tourist information office, a souvenir shop, a break area, and more. The former cafeteria now offers light meals with dishes made with kojidori chicken, Gujo ham, and Hida beef.

新橋のたもとにあります。レトロな建物で観光案内、売店、食堂になっています。昼近くに行きましたが、２階では郡上踊りの練習をしていました。町のお店はどこも混んでいたので、食堂でランチをということで向かいました。空いていて、すぐに座れたのは良いですが、お料理がなかなか出てこない。食券を買って、セルフで下げるシステムですが、その割に味噌煮込みうどん１０００円、ハヤシライス１２５０円はちょっと高いなあ...

郡上八幡駅から徒歩20分ほど。吉田川に架かる新橋の袂にある。入館無料。1936年築の旧八幡町役場。木造2階建瓦葺きの洋風建築で国の登録有形文化財。薄いグリーンの外壁にグレーで縁どられた窓、エントランス上部には「八幡町役場」のプレートが残っている。館内には観光案内のカウンター、土産物販売コーナー、食堂がある。
