Meotoiwa (Wedded Rocks) Tourism

Drive-in
This tourist rest stop is located near Meotoiwa Rock, one of Sado's most picturesque sites. The onsite restaurant serves up a wide variety of cuisine that makes good use of fresh Sado seafood, as well as beautiful views of the Nanaura Coast. Visitors can also tour the nearby Salt Factory Sado Kaza Shiogama, a producer of Sado's famous traditional salt, and even try making salt themselves. The Tansu Museum located at the rest stop exhibits a number of valuable examples of the Japanese art of cabinetry, including funa-dansu (sea chests) and ogi-dansu (cabinets from Ogi on Sado) used to load kitamaebune (merchant ships in the Edo period), as well as Hachiman-dansu (Hachiman-style cabinets) which originated in the mid-Edo period.
