Mitsuke English Garden

This English-style garden can be accessed by taking the Community Bus from JR Mitsuke Station to the Sangyodanchi / English Garden bus stop and then walking another five minutes. Designed by garden designer Kay Yamada to be friendly to the elderly and the physically challenged, the garden's plants are maintained by the Natural Gardening Club, a gathering of local volunteers. The garden is a great place to enjoy the beauty of each of Japan's four seasons. The garden also operates a nursery that raises flower seedlings for public facilities and other customers as part of a local greening movement.

新潟から長岡に向かって国道8号を走り、見附のplantの辺りで左に曲がり、新幹線のガードをくぐった所にあります。隣にはホテルが併設されています。入場料は無料ですが、その100円程度の協力金が呼びかけられています。春に行ったので、中の庭園は、色とりどりのチューリップが咲いていました。変わった形の花を付けたチューリップもありました。トイレの建物の前にある藤棚が見事で、藤の匂いが、マスクをして...

自然が一杯のガーデンでしたね。デザイン監修を英国園芸研究家のケイ山田さんがされており、ガーデン自体が洗練されていましたね！！

日本各地のイングリッシュガーデンを見に行っていますが、無料（寄付金あり）でこれだけ手入れの行き届いた美しいガーデンを見られるのはここだけではないでしょうか。今回はGWに訪問したのでチューリップが中心でしたが、数年前にはバラが美しい時期の華やかなガーデンも見学しました。メインの花ばかりではなく、わき役の花たちもよく手入れされていて、近くにあれば毎日でも通いたい夢のようなガーデンです。
