安比高原に宿泊していて、天気の悪い日はここに来て八幡平のビデオを見て、地元産の果物を買い、ランチを戴く。

人影も少なくさみしいセンターです。確かにこれといったものがなくトイレ利用者が中心でした。立派な施設なのにもったいない。

八幡平を身近に知るには最適なスポットです。八幡平の名前の由来、八幡平の自然・動物・植物を展示資料や遊び気分で学べられるように工夫されています。特に、動物のはく製は数が多くて、ツキノワグマ・キジなどは必見。観光センターも併設されているので、八幡平の魅力をより深く知ることも可能です。
