Shofuan Restaurant is a traditional-style cafe located on the grounds of Motsuji Temple in the town of Hiraizumi, Nishi-Iwai County, Iwate Prefecture. It serves soba noodles as well as traditional desserts and serves as a rest stop for people who are tired after walking around the temple paths. The soba is made by hand using time-honored techniques and is characterized by a pleasing texture. The desserts include dango (sweet rice paste balls) and matcha green tea, shaved ice, and sweet red beans with mochi, and there are also desserts that are limited to certain seasons.
