Kaikoji Temple
This is a temple near Hie Shrine in Hiyoshi-cho, Sakata City. This temple is said to have been built by the famous monk Kukai 1,200 year ago. This temple is the only temple in Japan to have enshrined the statues of the mummified bodies of the Venerable Chukai and Venerable Enmyokai, after one thousand days of ascetic pursuit.
