A cafe and restaurant located a 10 minute walk from JR Matsushima-Kaigan Station close to the Godai-do Temple, one of Matsushima's most popular sightseeing destinations. The establishment has four floors. The first floor is a cafe which sells souvenirs as well as popular manju steamed buns stuffed with beef tongue, a local specialty. The second floor is a Western-style restaurant where you can enjoy select, seasonal lunch dishes while taking in a view of nearby Matsushima Bay. The Tamaya Lunch set, which consists of an A version and a B version diners can choose between, is particularly recommended. The Japanese-style restaurant on the fourth floor is popular with families and serves a grill-it-yourself thick beef tongue set meal as well as a seafood rice bowl topped with fresh fish.

観光地のメインストリートというのは、ただその立地だけに甘んじて、味やサービスはお粗末ということがよくあります。小樽とか、函館の朝市とかはその典型。この店の立地もそれに近いものがあったので、正直あまり期待していなかったのですが、良い意味で期待を裏切られました。このビルでは、フロアごとにレストランの看板が異なりますが、経営母体は同じ（大観荘というホテル）だそうで、私が行ったのは2Fのグリル玉屋です。ち...
