Hokushin Zushi (Sendai Station, Third Floor Shop)北辰鮨 仙台駅3階店
This stand-up sushi shop is on Sushi and Beef Tongue Street in Sendai Station. With no chairs, the snug shop has room for 10 customers who eat standing facing the glass case full of fresh sushi ingredients. The sushi is served on bamboo leaves placed on an unfinished wooden stand in lieu of dishes. All the sushi is fresh, reasonably priced, and must be ordered one piece at a time. They have many sushi items from the waters off Sendai including hoya ascidian, donko goby, and abalone. They also serve sake, with a focus on local Sendai brews.
