Roadside Station Oya Kaigan道の駅 大谷海岸
A roadside station standing along National Route 45 in Motoyoshi-cho Mishima, Kesennuma City, Miyagi Prefecture. During the Great East Japan Earthquake, the interior of the facility was flooded. The facility opened shortly after using a temporary structure and fully re-opened in a remodeled building in April 2013. Here you can purchase locally caught seafood at reasonable prices. The station also has a restaurant renowned for its shark fin ramen, shark fin sugata-ni stew, and other shark fin dishes. The shark fin soft serve ice cream, which contains real shark fin mixed in, is particularly unusual.

Lying along the northeastern coast of Japan, Miyagi prefecture is home to lashings of natural parks, oysters, and hot springs. While the bustling city of Sendai offers some simple city entertainment, it’s the Matsushima islands that deserve the most attention, having boosted the prefecture’s reputation as one of Japan’s most scenic views.
