A museum dedicated to Mt. Bandai located in Kitashiobara Village, Yama County, Fukushima Prefecture. Visitors can vicariously experience the 1888 eruption of Mt. Bandai via a giant model in the museum. The museum also displays various items and materials about and from the time of the eruption, in addition to presenting the history of Mt. Bandai and the plants and animals which live there. Visited by large numbers of families, the museum holds nature watching and other events several times a year.

Some interesting artefacts, especially a model of the worlds first seismometer. Some interactive sections as well.Worth a visit if nearby.
「磐梯山」の火山歴史が良くわかる「磐梯山噴火記念館」でした。

「磐梯山」の火山歴史というか、「裏磐梯」の歴史が良くわかる「磐梯山噴火記念館」でした。明治21年に発生した磐梯山の噴火によって、周辺の地形図が様変わりしたことがよくわかりました。村がなくなくなり、湖、沼ができたという「裏磐梯」ですね。悲しい歴史でもあり、新たなこの土地の歴史でもあり、とても興味深かかったでした。おすすめします。
地方に良くある記念館ですね

地方に良くある感じの記念館です。これといった特徴もなくそういう意味では料金も高目だと思います。特に磐梯山の噴火の映像はほとんど噴煙しか見えません、あれを作った意味あるのかなぁ？民話コーナーの作品４つはどれも伝承話らしい突っ込みどころ満載でしたが中でも「噴火を予知した男」は酷かった。おばさんは助けないんか-い、か-い、か-い（こだま）、予知なんかじゃなく都合よく偉ぶっただけって実情が窺われる点...
