Sannohe Castle Site / Shiroyama Park
The site of Sannohe Castle, which was built by the Nanbu Clan during Japan's Warring States period. Today the site is maintained as Shiroyama Park; in addition to the castle's original stone wall and earthworks, the park also has an event space, deer garden, and history and folk customs museum. The park is also a renowned destination for cherry blossom viewing, and in spring some 1,600 cherry trees on the grounds burst into bloom, attracting great numbers of visitors from around the prefecture and country.
