Mamenbara Plateau麻綿原高原

The plateau 340 meters high in the Kiyosumi Mountains is well-known in the Kanto region as an exquisite place for hydrangeas. In 1951, the Reverend Minowa Hiuke revived this abandoned Buddhist temple and planted hydrangeas, which extensively cover an area called Tenbaien around Myohosho-ji Temple—with over 20,000 plants. Every July, the entire area is beautifully adorned with blue, purple, and white flowers blooming.

Further inland, Naritaーmost famous as the home of Narita Airportーis a secret haven of tradition and history in the form of centuries-old Shinshoji Temple and quaint wooden Edo buildings.
