Nagomi-Yoneya Main Shop (なごみの米屋總本店)

4.0

Japanese Confectionery

This is a Japanese confectionery shop, founded in 1899, located on the Omotensando Road in Naritasan Shinsho-ji Temple. It is known as the shop that introduced chestnut yokan, sweet bean jelly, to Japan and the jelly was based on the vegetarian cuisine ‘chestnut soup’ of Naritasan Shinsho-ji Temple. The sweet bean jellies such as the Gokujo-oozao-youkan made by traditional methods, are famous and have been loved for many years as a souvenir of pilgrims to Naritasan. The Peanuts Monaka, a sweet using peanuts, a special product of Chiba, as well as standard Japanese sweets such as kintsuba and dorayaki, and seasonal sweets are also available.

The Boso Peninsula forms the main body of Chiba prefecture, and this is where you’ll find its endless warm water beaches and jagged mountains. Further inland, Narita - most famous as the home of Narita Airport - is a secret haven of tradition and history in the form of centuries-old Shinshoji Temple and quaint wooden Edo buildings. Chiba prefecture is also home to both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
