You’ll find this museum in Eiraku Town, Kiryu City. There are exhibits of materials related to Kiryu textiles, and you’ll also find Kiryu textiles for sale on the first floor. The building that was constructed in 1934 as the headquarters for the Kiryu Textile Manufacturers Association was registered as an Important Cultural Property.

織物だけでなく建物も価値あり

ローカルな上毛かるたにも、また江戸時代から西の西陣、東の桐生とも言われていた桐生の織物機械や種類を無料で見ることができます。また建物は国の登録有形文化財にもなっているもので、天井が高く装飾やドアなど昔のドラマや映画などの撮影にも使われるそうで貴重な物です。減ってはいますが、桐生では現在でも織物産業が続いていることが紹介されており、1階では現代にマッチした織物の物品も販売されています。

織物の街・桐生の歴史や、今もつくられる織物の数々を見ることができます。織物関係の書籍もあるので、調べ物をしたいときにも便利だと思います。建物自体にも歴史があり、展示室以外はあまり手が入っていないので、古い建築物が好きな人にもおすすめです。
