Shirahata no Yu

A free communal bath near the yubatake (hot water field and spring source) in Kusatsu, Kusatsu Town. The bathhouse itself is managed by the local residents but tourists are also welcome to use it. It is said that Minamoto no Yoritomo discovered the spring where visitors can now soak in the cloudy waters of the Shirahata (white flag) source, named after the flag of the Minamoto clan (Genji).

とにかく熱い！普段41.42℃に入っている私でも、膝下しか入れませんでした。何度もかけ湯しましたが、全然なれない(笑)真ん中で区切られていて、どちらかが低い温度らしいのですが、何も書いてないので、どっちがどうなのかサッパリわからず。ただ言えることは、どっちも熱いです。小3の息子が主人と入りましたが、恐らく足先しか入ってないみたいです（多少かけ湯はしたみたい）子供連れて行くと、トラウマレベル並み...
白旗の湯、熱すぎてヤバい

お隣の草津館に宿泊。共同浴場で且つ無料です。隣接で且つ無料ということで突撃。浴槽は２つあり、共に熱湯風呂並みに高温で、中々浸かれず四苦八苦。気合いを入れて肩までゴー。熱いの通り越して痛かったですが、それはそれで快適でした。

ものすごく暑いので、好みが分かれると思います。が、雰囲気がとても好きです。少し入って休んで入るを繰り返すと入れなくもないですよ。
