Morinokuni Poppo Onsen is one of Japan’s more unusual natural hot spring spas as its part of JR Matsumaru Station. With views of the Hirose River from the free foot bath on the second floor, it’s highly popular with tourists as they can access it directly from the train platform. There are two indoor baths, the wooden Meiji-no-Yu and stone Nametoko-no-Yu. It’s a day spa where the bathing areas periodically rotate between men’s and women’s use. Both have a sauna and an outdoor bath. The lobby features local specialty products from Matsuno, and they sell items like ice cream and milk. It’s a good place to take a rest after your bath.

JR予土線松丸駅駅舎内にある温泉

JR予土線は運転本数が少なく、ワンマンの列車で、駅はほとんど無人駅です。松丸駅も無人駅の扱いですが、なんと駅舎の2階が温泉施設になっています。次の列車が来るまでに時間がある場合は、ここでくつろぎながら時間をつぶすことができると思います。駅前には無料の足湯もあります。

駅に併設された温泉施設。河後森城に登った汗を流して気持ちよく電車に乗ることができる。基本的には地元向けの施設だが、観光客も多く訪れているので場違い感はない。２階の売店では道の駅で売られているような地産品も多少は販売されている。

続日本100名城の河後森城跡の最寄り駅、JR松丸駅。駅舎が日帰り温泉施設になっています。予土線は2時間に1本くらいの停車なので、次の列車まで温泉につかれます。駅前には足湯もあります。駅舎の隣に駐車場があります。
