HAMAKO Harimaya Main Shop

Pastries

Hamako is located beside Harimaya Bridge, known for its ties to the folk song “Yosakoi-bushi” It is one of Kochi Prefecture’s signature sweet shops, primarily dealing in Tosa confectionery. Hamako’s original Japanese sweets include their famous kanzashi and mizuyokan confectioneries. Both have appeared many times in popular souvenir features in magazines and other media. What makes these sweets exquisite is using fruit peel essence extracted with deep ocean water without the use of heat. They provide the luscious taste of nature without losing the fragrance and nutrients of the fruit.

Reviewed:2018/08/22

Kochi Main Areas

around-area-map

The largest of Shikoku's prefectures, Kochi is endowed with some of the island's most exceptional sand beaches lining the Pacific Ocean, which narrows into the Shimanto-gawa, a huge river that stretches 196 kilometers into the prefecture, passing verdant mountains and hosting countless riverside activities. Whether you're a pilgrim or not, Kochi's 16 Buddhist temples that make up one leg of the Shikoku Pilgrimage are worth a visit, particularly Chikurin-ji for its five-tier pagoda.
