Tatara-ohashi Bridge

Tatara-ohashi Bridge diagonally connects Ikuchi-jima Island in Onomichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture with Omishima Island in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture. The bridge is the fourth bridge along Shimanami Kaido Expressway, from Honshu and has a beautiful shape like that of a swan spreading its wings over the sea. Tatara-ohashi Bridge is notable for its additional cycling and pedestrian lanes as well as the road exclusively for cars and trucks. If you clap your hands or the wooden blocks at the bottom of the bridge support you can experience the echoing reverberations, known as nakiryu (roaring dragon), as the sound travels up the supports.
