Tanikichi is a restaurant located on the second floor of a long-established store, Anagomeshi Ueno, about two minutes on foot from Miyajimaguchi Station. Both stores are run by the same owner. Tanikichi offers the local Miyajima food anagomeshi, grilled conger eel on a bed of delicious rice, served in a kettle-cooked pot. The taste of the eel and dashi with the smell of the crisp, slightly burned rice at the bottom of the pot is the restaurant’s signature dish. Their anago no shirayaki (plain grilled eel) together with a glass of sake is a particular favorite here. The restaurant only serves course meals. Tanikichi has the nostalgic atmosphere of the Taisho period. It’s a nice place to relax and enjoy a good meal after a good walk. Advance reservations possible.

前から行ってみたかったお店。古民家、昭和レトロで落ち着いた雰囲気です。予約は電話のみ。5,000円ぐらいの季節のコースを注文しました。食前酒からデザートまで。季節感を感じながら、美味しくいただきました。

宮島観光の帰りに利用しました。人気店であることは知っていたので、利用日の一ヶ月前ぐらいに予約をしました。大人は懐石コース4950円を、子供には2200円のコースを頼みました。うちの子供は少食のため、子供が手をつけないものも食べていたので、懐石の1番安いコースでしたが、最後の穴子飯を食べることができないぐらいお腹いっぱいになってしまいました。しかし、肝心の穴子飯を食べないで帰るのは悔しいので...

うえののあなご飯は美味しいので有名ですが、とにかく混んでいます。こちらは同じうえのさんが経営しているアンティーク調の素敵なレストラン。あなご飯やあなごの白焼き（これも美味しい！）あなご和え物、香の物、みそ汁、デザートがついて3000位です。あなご飯は量が多く美味しかったのですがご飯を残してしまいました。ミニのセットにしておけば良かったです。特に女性の方は食べきれないかもしれないので。
