Teien Saryo Minami
Kaiseki/Kappo Traditional Japanese Cuisine
A restaurant located on the first floor of the long-standing Minamikan ryokan inn on the shore of Lake Shinji in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. A white sand and pine garden, backed by Lake Shinji, stretches out beyond the restaurant’s windows, and the restaurant has both tables and private dining rooms with views of this beautiful scenery. The restaurant’s vaunted regional cuisine makes abundant use of the seasonal culinary blessings provided by the San’in, such as fresh seafood from the Sea of Japan and seasonal vegetables from the countryside. Minami’s taimeshi minced sea bream with rice is made according to a traditional family recipe based on the shirukakegohan and sobagu loved by Matsudaira Fumai, the seventh lord of the ancient Matsue Domain.

- Beautiful room, lovely garden, but food average.
- On the strength of one review in English we booked this restaurant , which is in a posh Ryokan on the river in Matsue. The room is lovely, with a gorgeous Japanese garden giving onto the river. We...
